From Olympic Torch Bearers to Monty Python

The latest scuffles with the London Torch bearers for the Olympic Relay; to me, is nothing more than attention seeking individuals who now know that everything shall receive coverage.

These people have had years to complain about the very fact that China was going to be hosting the Olympics. But not a murmur, being South African and having endured the 'spock of Apartheid' I continually find the irony in what the World determines worth creating an issue about.

It was all and well that Peter Hain championed the cause of no sport with South Africa due to their political policies. Yet these very same persons who were rabid for the cause and who made a living out of the work they did, seem to be quite comfortable being less vociferous on the subject of China.

Rober MuageThe other day the elections within Zimbabwe again brought up the sore of Southern Africa and it was with a slight wry smirk that I read the German journalist's slant on things, that the British Govt turned a blind eye to the 'massacres' when Mugabe came into power but then made stirrings when there were white farmers losing their property. What annoyed me was the mentioning of white farmers and the issue of race. The British Government messed up completely when it came to Mugabe and it was through their direct influence that they allowed the militant to come into power in the first place.

It is all very well that the journalist singles out Britain, but we certainly didn't hear Ambassador Andrew Young of the United States speaking out about matters or even the vociferous Scandanavian country; Sweden, who had been so vocal in the backing of the gun toting terrorist Mugabe.

Dalia LamaAll of this is rather farcical from popstars falling over themselves when it comes to the cause of Africa and now the sudden interest in Tibet. The Dalai Lama has; for ever since I can remember, being trying to find a solution to Tibet and now every Jonny and his banjo is jumping out to be seen as caring for Tibet.

And in closing, I find it rather amusing that they jumped out to stop the small elfen figure of ex-Blue Peter presenter; Konnie Huq, to flex their muscles. Rather brave of them.

My cynicism holds no bars and I smile at the thought of these protesters going home to use something that was 'Made in China'

The joy of the images above was that the world went out of their way to put one of those persons in power, the one was a gun toting killer and the other was a spiritual leader of peace. Guess who they choose in their wiseness?

Just remember, don't mention the Germans and finally

The world today seems absolutely crackers,
With nuclear bombs to blow us all sky high.
There's fools and idiots sitting on the trigger.
It's depressing and it's senseless, and that's why...
I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
They only come up to your knees,
Yet they're always friendly, and they're ready to please.

I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
There's nine hundred million of them in the world today.
You'd better learn to like them; that's what I say.

I like Chinese.
I like Chinese.
They come from a long way overseas,
But they're cute and they're cuddly, and they're ready to please.
