Question Are you watching the Olympics

Well are you, watching the Olympics?

every time these major championships come around it is work round the clock for me and the Olympics it seems to be even more with all the sport on display

There have been a few great moments so far and I am sure there will be more

great that SA won their first medal of the games yesterday

Mokoena grabs Silver to place SA on Medal table
Khotso Mokoena ended Team South Africa's Olympic medals drought on Monday, winning silver in impressive style in the men's long jump with a leap of 8.24 metres.

or there may have been a few blushes

Nope.

I agree with the wife, they should drop the sports and just have the opening ceremony.

This is a Wind-Up , right ?

For a country of over 40 mil. known citizens , to get 1 ( one ) medal so far , has got to be a bad Joke of the Millenium ;
Even Zimmies have 4 ( four ) already , with all their well-publicised problems !!!
Not to mention little places
like Slovenia ( 5 ) , Czech Rep. ( 5 ) , Jamaica ( 7 ) , Netherlands ( 14 )...
Could it be that the ( supposedly ) sports-mad Saffers are The most useless among the nations , in what are usually-considered sports generally ( like : athletics , swimming , boxing , cycling etc ) - except , maybe , for the Belgians being even worse , hehehe ?

You summed it up beautifully - and with that mamparra de Villiers 'coaching' the Boks, our rugby is going to go the same way as the Olympic sports. And just remember the only way the Bafana will get to the 2010 Soccer World Cup is because it's in SA (at the moment that is!). Pitiful, the lot of them.

So Sad !

I lived in Transvaal , for 15 good years of my young-er Life !!!
...and we had swimmers , tennis players , Jody Scheckter , Kriek , Curren , runners , boxers ...you name them , not all the World nor Olympic champs , granted : but unashamedly worthwhile competitors , nonetheless !!!
Nowadays , I can spend untold afternoons in front of TV ( watching the excellent transmissions and comments , plentyfull beautiful performances by the likes of Jamaicans and Brits and Yanks and Russkis and others ) ...
has oneone spotted a SethEffriken , featuring in all that ?

I spent every evening glued to the TV while the Olympics were on and loved every minute of it.

The next day after the closing ceremony I was hoping to see some of the memorable events hashed over and hear talk about the events and personal stories about athletes, but all that was on TV was politics because of the upcoming elections.

Talk about depression, but there is a bright side - our garden is weed-free and looks lovely after endless hours spent planting, transplanting, weeding and feeding!

Do you have beetles, deer, grasshoppers and an armadillo? That's what I've had to contend with, in that order. Still contending with the armadillo who digs holes in the beds almost every night. I hate that thing and can't catch him.
I need an olympian sprinter who is also a javelin thrower.

What's in the soil over there that makes all those creatures attack your plants and gardens?
