How about 'Silence of the Lambs" - was glad I had read the book before watching the movie. "Out of Africa" did find this movie better than the book and "Forest Gump" the movie was much much nicer than the book.

I agree with some of the ones mentioned. They have turned out to be good movies.
A couple of books that I read and were turned into "mini series" are "A woman of substance" by Barbara Taylor Bradford & also "Master of the game" by Sidney Sheldon.

Don't you think though that the book is usually better???

For me the best two adaptations are:

Michael Ende's "Never Ending Story" as the movie was exactly as I pictured the book Smile

and

Stephen King's "Storm of the Century" which is not surprising as it was written as a screen play :p

The worst I've seen must be the movie very very loosely based upon Virginia Andrews' "Flowers in the attic" :mad:

I read the book after I'd see the movie, but can't really remember much, except that the movie is only a very small part of the book!
