How under Bill Clinton , inflation figures improved ?

Simply ( as is now shown by figures of many another country/ies , not only U.S. ):
just remove all the energy ( fuel , gas , electricity etc. ) costs and food data , from official inflation indices ;
Bingo !!!
The Western ( and other ) Governments are seen to be , for now :
winning the
( demagoguery = lieing , cheating , conning , charlatanism- ) game ...
Ain't it so , just ? With Joe Public being the sheep , that they are ...

where did you read this Ray, it seems interesting enough to say the least

I am reading The Broker by John Grisham and if this is what takes place in the world of espionage then the world seems to be split into many different facets of where we live in total oblivion as to what takes place

to me this is what Governments count on

I attended a highly-successful fund-group presentation , earlier in the week ;
besides them , "entrez-nous" , admitting to very much doom and gloom about oncoming recessinary cycle , stemming primarily from the U.S. ,
the talk was about bonds , currencies , hedges , what else to do in order to to make some money ...and so it led to commodities , as in :
gold , oil , gas ...;
which is when the charts were discussed of Government-presented inflation
( in 2%-3% ranges , mostly ) vs. the real inflation i.e. reflecting the energy and food price increases...
shockingly enough , you'd need to net 7%+ p.a. , on your cash in the bank , after taxes , year-on-year , just to remain standing still ;
alternatively , you can work out by how much your savings are eroded in real value , every year you don't hit this break-even point !
So , it's very convenient , for U.S. and other government/s , to borrow from Joe Public at the current rate of the coupon of their medium and long Bonds ;
and to support all-round savage taxation of interests , dividends , capital gains , Bond yields...
so that , in our life time , middle classes , as we used to know them :
get wiped out financially alltogether , for the ultimate benefit and control by the elitist conspiracy of governments and multinational Big Business !

this to me is what is taking place ... the EU is beginning to reflect a structure which is aimed at big business being able to use cheap labour without paying TAX at the expense of the inhabitants of the country where the product was originally developed. True that Capitalism is about profit however the carving up of Europe, to me, looks more like a step in establishing the Lords and peasants structure which was fought against for years.

When France voted NON it was an indication of enough was enough .. however I am not sure that most of the UK populace shouting NON actually know what it is all about

From a personal capacity I am all for establishing competition however Big Business controls so much ... I often refer to the Big5 of South Africa and still see the elections to end apartheid as a simple commercial manoeuvre to benefit the Big5 without it truly benefitting the majority

What is taking place in SA [I digress] is very similar to Zim, despite what people may say, as the rich are getting richer and the poor more poor. Land will become an issue when, just as Zim, it will be used as a trump card to placate the masses .. BEE and AA is a system devised to keep the Black middle class happy and to give the elite more breathing space ...

when returning to Western society you are able to see more and more of such development taking place .. after the hurricane in the US, one was able to see how much of a gap had formed between the rich and the poor in the World's wealthiest country ..

People are their own worst enemies and maybe one has to simply consider ones own preservation and work to achieve a status that keeps your family away from the decaying rot at the bottom

extreme apologies for a change of thought

one question .. What is federalism and how does it affect Europe and the World?

France voted NON , as did the Dutch ...but :

this does not in any way really hamper down the ever-continuing process of federalisation into the United States of Europe ;
one country , one currency , one rainy Capital
in which the ( never-elected ) most unsavoury ,
hugely-overpaid and non-taxed , well-attired shameless characters are seen lording it daily in 5-star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants , in and out of chauffer-driven S-class and 7-series and A8s and Jags , often escorted by police , for speedier passages to their next parties ...
nepotism rules , just think of recent appointments of commissioner/s from Britain...
the ( eastern and southern Euro- ) paupers concentrate only on their dreams of getting closer to the gravy train...
most Europeans dare not speak , about what all is wrong with the design and execution of the EU , less still : do something about it...
where before Napoleon and Hitler failed , now the beneficiaries of the Club of Rome have an absolute upper hand ;
what to do ?
We started off this Thread , about the misrepresentations the common public is being mislead with , about inflation and interest rates - the deeper one looks into the state of the world , the more one is convinced that too many other issues are just as badly lied about !
Is it true what they say : that every country gets the government it deserves ?
( My own age and experience suggest that it might , indeed , very well be true ! )
Sadly , whilst it is strongly advisable that one should focus primarily on one's own individual progress and well-being , there is a lot of legal infrastructure around and enforced nowadays , designed specifically to punish and financially-penalise those who try hard-er , to become independent financially - not least the last year's money-grabbing European Directive on Tax on Interest , Savings and Dividends , which is in itself : sufficient to make a grown man cry !
Peace to all , enjoy Sunday !

Ok, so the thread has veered into this new territory where conspiracy theories abound and lets face it, where there is smoke there is usually fire. It has been stated for many years that there is a small elitist group of big business that tends to run the governments around the world. This involves arms dealers whose purposes are served by continual conflict around the world. Sounds like science fiction doesn't it?

Joe public being duped by Govts with manipulated inflation figures etc is nothing new, it has gone on since time immemorial. Yes, you have the class structure with the rich getting richer and the poor being the masses, but isn't that the nature of the beast? Most of the masses don't really give a darn in the end and wouldn't know what to do with money anyway, which is why the benefit state was created in the UK etc.. They get just enough to keep themselves happy and therefore we see no rebellion.

Conspiracy theories? or are they?

and why did the SA Rugby Board meet with the ANC delegates a while before SA voted towards various dismantling of apartheid .. the freeing of Mandela et al

is this the reason SA Rugby were allowed to keep the Springbok emblem

But there isn't a problem with that, is there? The end of Apartheid was inevitable, so forward planning is the hallmark of any good organisation.

look that answer does not help the various theories

as for JFK ... his killing is to do with arms sales as he would not have taken the US into a full scale war in Vietnam

The apparent dissolution or dismantling of the AOL-TIME-WARNER company into individual units is quite intriguing...

Afterall the singlemost sought-after currency in the world is information and those who control the supply and dissemination thereof do therefore control the access to and wherewithall of everthing that affects our daily lives...

Google's reluctance to embrace a free service to information in China is kinda worrying in the long term.
Who's to say we're actually hearing the whole truth if it's being controlled and disseminated by a handful of sheepdogs?

Personally I think that Jackie-o had a contract out as her cheating husband didn't realise the wrath of a woman scorned
