Sue Johnson to share cancer experience
#61
Hi all

Well this week has not been one of my best!

Jen, my mind is all set to go, the body this week failed me miserably :jester:

After a rough weekend and Monday, Tuesday beginning to feel slightly better I went to work on Wednesday and was OK. Wednesday night I felt like my body was beginning to freeze and the nausea returned. I had a bad nights sleep because I was so cold and then Thursday, it sounds daft but it felt as though I had been poisoned. I lay on my bed the whole day wanting to throw up, I was freezing cold and my bones ached. Sorry Cheffie....I missed your call but I turned off my phone. I had a small weep to myself and just wanted to die right there and then..........not literally.......but you know what I mean.

By yesterday evening, warmth had returned to my hands and I managed to get up from my bed and lay in front of the TV but I can not tell you what I watched.

This morning I felt much better and managed a cup of tea. I cancelled my surgeon's appointment and have asked a friend to drive me in to hillcrest today for my blood test. I phoned the oncologist to see if I could delay it till tomorrow but when I told her what had happened she said no, it has to be done today because my white blood cells have probably fallen too low and my immune system is now in trouble. The laboratory will test my blood and send it straight to the oncologist to see if they have to prescribe anti biotics.

I also spoke to the sisters at Hopelands about the medication for nausea not working this time and so they will look to change it for me for my next chemo session.

I am sure the next two weeks will be much better as my body begins to fight back but I can imagine that the more chemo one has, the more difficult it is to bounce back each time. What I am noticing is that I get tired so easily now and I have to rest.

Anyway, will let you know how the blood test go...... :chorus:

Rita, your book has arrived, thank you so much....I am looking forward to reading it.

Joan, thank you again for all the nausea info, the sister at Hopelands also advised me to try some Valoids so I will give them a try.

Thank you everyone for the ongoing support.....it really is appreciated
