It is based at the old South African Railways station Hermannstad in the north west of Pretoria.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Loco 3664 pictured above was the first loco allocated to the FOTR. It is a Class 24 loco built in 1949 in Glasgow, Scotland and was in service in the South African Railways in the Eastern Cape, based in Port Elizabeth, until the mid-1980s.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_30\" style=\"width: 570px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalbuzz-sa.com\/mcgregorza\/files\/2011\/07\/20091216-213-e1311259193248.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30\" class=\"size-full wp-image-30 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.globalbuzz-sa.com\/mcgregorza\/files\/2011\/07\/20091216-213-e1311259193248.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"489\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-30\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Going through the &#8220;poort&#8221; on the &#8220;Tshwane Xplorer&#8221; pulled by loco 3664<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The FOTR runs a number of excursions which are open to the public from Hermannstad Station. In addition trains can be hired for special events.
