Just over 5500 walkers and runners lined the streets of Stellenbosch on Friday, 09 August 2013 to show their support on National Women’s Day by taking part in the fun-filled Totalsports Ladies Race.
Nedbank runner Rene Kalmer was the lady to beat in the 10km Totalsports Ladies Race crossing the finish line in an impressive time of 33minutes35seconds. According to Kalmer, so far this has been her best race of the year. “The route was tough with a lot of twists, turns and hills. I enjoyed the last 3kms the most. I love Stellenbosch, the people are really friendly. It’s strange, but I seem to have a lot of supporters here, even though I’m not from the area. The Totalsports Ladies Race is really special as it’s all about the ladies. I’ll definitely be back next year,” says Kalmer. Bulelwa Simae came in second, while Anneline Roffey finished third.
