The debut of the New Balance IMPI Challenge at Virginia Trails, Eston (KZN) on Saturday, 18 May 2013 was received with open arms. Just over 712 adventure athletes and lovers of the outdoors toed the line to test their skill and agility on the 13km course that featured 18 of the IMPI Challenge’s most impressive obstacles.
According to Pieter Du Plessis, Race Director, the KZN debut was a huge success. “The vibe was amazing with excited participants taking on their very first New Balance IMPI Challenge. The course featured a variety of terrain, from jungle sections, to sugar cane fields, awesome scenery and a good measure of hills. Some sections went over mountain bike tracks, some over jeep tracks, while a few sections featured straight out bundu bashing. The New Balance IMPI Challenge is a National event that has attracted over 10 000 participants within the three regions. We were overwhelmed by the positive response received in KZN and look forward to hosting the event over two days in 2014 as we currently do in both Gauteng and Cape Town,” says Du Plessis.
