New Green Point Stadium
The New Green Point Stadium is currently being rebuilt to be available for athletics in the future. The old stadium was steeped in tradition and the new stadium promises a track for the future.
With the building of the Cape Town stadium it looked as though the future of athletics in the Atlantic Bowl area would be under threat with the old Green Point Stadium tartan track being removed, however the City of Cape Town have been rebuilding and revamping the New Green Point Stadium.
James Evans of ASA and WPA had this to say:
“The City has come good on its commitment to developing a world class athletics facility after the loss of the Green Point athletics stadium during the Football World Cup. This stadium can be come the centre for the development of athletics in the region.”
